From 9 – 10 April this year, the Singapore World International Film Festival (SWIFF) will be screening a curated selection of 7 award-winning international films. This inaugural event aims to provide festival goers with an insight into the broad diversity of film culture from around the world.
SWIFF has shortlisted an exclusive selection of 6 feature films and 1 documentary from an overwhelming pool of over 3550 international submissions. These 7 pieces from Russia, China, Japan, Canada, the United States and Spain will be screened exclusively at Golden Village VivoCity. Included among these 7 is ‘Leaves of the Tree’ which relates the ongoing struggle of doubt, belief and faith for all that come in contact with a centuries old tree that seems to possess profound healing properties.
The 6 other films are:
‘China’s 3 Dreams’, a documentary about the present dilemmas and dreams of China’s People.
‘Patrol’, a film about an honourable policewoman whose principles are tested while the broken relationship with her husband and son are on the edge of failure.
‘Slit Mouth Woman in L.A.’, a story of Japanese urban horror legends in Los Angeles set against the backdrop of a series of mysterious murders.
‘Buffalo’, the story of a terminally ill cab driver who sets out to find his son after being shaken by the sudden death of his ex-wife.
‘Black Mud’, a coming of age story that follows two orphaned brothers as they travel cross country to the Alberta oil sands in search of a new life.
‘Escapes’, a film about a young American photographer of Spanish and Chinese origin who embarks on a trip to Spain in search of memories of her father.
