Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) proudly presets Romeo & Juliet as the ninth production in their Shakespeare in the Park series. To mark the 400th death anniversary of William Shakespeare, SRT has chosen to stage what is arguably Shakespeare’s most well-loved play.
Romeo & Juliet has had a profound influence on music, film, theatre and debates over the years. SRT’s staging of Romeo & Juliet is set to be the biggest Shakespeare production in this part of the world this year. It will be a stunning contemporary production created by some of the best theatre practitioners on and off stage. The titular characters will be portrayed by Thomas Pang (Tribes) and Cheryl Tan (Beauty World and Red Riding Hood) respectively. Joining them will be Remesh Panicker, Shane Mardjuki and Daniel Jenkins in other leading roles.
So come spread your picnic blanket and enjoy an evening of theatre underneath the stars amidst the beauty of nature as you take in this tale of forbidden and tragic love. Previews for the performance will start from 27 April 2016, and regular performances will be from 30 April to 22 May 2016.
