The World Gourmet Summit is back once again with a promise of exquisite gastronomic experiences. World Gourmet Summit 2016 is the 20th Anniversary of the event, and to celebrate this milestone, WGS this year is featuring 20 Michelin-starred and Masterchefs from around the world.
This year’s summit will see a stellar cast of international culinary stars, home-grown talents and visiting industry personalities come together for a feast of events. The retinue of Masterchefs includes the likes of Yoshinori Ishii, Javier Aranda, Nacho Manzano and more. Among the stars is Masterchef Reto Mathis, from St. Moritz, Switzerland, who was WGS’s first visiting Masterchef. Other famous and familiar faces from around the region that you can expect to see are John See and Violet Oon as well as Chef Wan.
Gourmet lovers can look forward to learning some practical tips and gaining culinary insights from the masterclasses and workshops presented by the visiting and local Masterchefs. In conjunction with this, some of Singapore’s most notable and award-winning establishments will be hosting various WGS events and dinners as well as showcasing specially created menus exclusively for WGS.
In addition to all these gourmet events, there will be special signature events held in line with the 20th Anniversary theme, one such event being ‘WGS 20 Best Chefs’ Jam Session. This two day symposium will be held on 16 and 17 April 1-Altitude and will feature some of world’s renowned chefs. As the premier gastronomic collective in Singapore, the dialogue will focus on the latest topic concerning the local industry, whether local talent is receiving the recognition it deserves.
Other events such as ‘Hong Kong Street Party’ will see the likes of 28 Hong Kong Street, Bacchanalia and The Butchers Club come together for the ultimate back alley block party. This one day affair will see Hong Kong Street transformed to resemble the glamour of Hong Kong and Shanghai in the 1930s. For the adventurous, the WGS Bikers’ Gourmet Safari brings you on a food tour from Singapore to Malacca and back. From 23 – 24 April, participants will ride some 1000km, stopping and sampling the local delicacies along the way.
With the amazing line-up of events, this year’s summit is definitely one not to be missed. So stay tuned for more on the World Gourmet Summit 2016.
