Originally a dessert boutique cafe from Seoul, the Banana Tree opened their first outlet at Keong Siak Road.
Famous in South Korea for their garden themed desserts and flowery presentations, this unique concept has been brought to Singapore for the first time. Staying faithful to the theme, the desserts here are mostly served in small pots of differing colours. In addition to that, the ingredients are presented to resemble things like soil or parts of plants. Rounding off the presentation are shovel shaped spoons, which play well into the garden theme. Overall these desserts make good photography material.
Some of the well known desserts are the Flower Paap ($6.50) and Pot Bingsu ($12.50), both of which resemble potted plants. Besides these garden themed desserts there are the more conventional looking ones like the Oreo Bomb ($12) which is essentially Oreo pieces topped with vanilla ice-cream in a pan.
Other than desserts, Banana Tree also serves drinks such as the iced Som Som Latte ($7) and lime mojito ($7.50), both of which are great thirst quenchers. If you like cotton candy, you should definitely give the Som Som Latte a try, it has cotton candy atop the usual latte.
