Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) is a unique new concept that’s brewed from a partnership between Harry Grover, Five Senses Coffee (Australia), and the Spa Esprit Group. It is inspired by the desire to make quality coffee and the knowledge surrounding it more accessible to the greater public, with the belief that great coffee should not be a privilege, but instead available for all to enjoy. With the raising of the bar, CMCR also serves a menu of bistro-quality food that promises to be on par with its top-notch coffee.
Grover’s 40 Hands Café kickstarted the Third Wave coffee trend in Singapore 3 years ago, and now CMCR takes things up a notch by challenging and stimulating people’s palates with a selection of unconventional blends.
Located at 22 Martin Road, the multi-faceted venue houses a coffee roaster, a specialty coffee bar, a 60-seater restaurant that offers all-day dining, and a retail space that offers coffee accessories.
With the grounds laid for a buzzing coffee scene, CMCR aims to push the boundaries in terms of its coffee offerings. While many cafés are content to serve up crowd-pleasing blends, CMCR goes out on a limb to experiment with different coffee flavour profiles, all in the name of helping customers open up their palates to other exciting possibilities.
A cupping table facilitates tasting sessions, while a team of seasoned veteran baristas armed with a dedicated coffee programme and an 8-metre bar equipped with the latest Marco brew gear and a 4-group Synesso, ensure that the most unique roasts and coffee finds their way into your cup.
Your run-of-the-mill sarnies and sliced cakes simply don’t cut it at CMCR. Great coffee is a way of life here, and completing the equation is a menu of scrumptious bistro-quality nosh. The family-run Australian specialist roaster Five Senses Coffee brings 13 years of experience to the table, and is charged with the task of sourcing and roasting the best coffee, working with CMCR as the exclusive distributor of Five Senses Coffee in Southeast Asia. Overseeing this and ensuring all your caffeine-related needs are fulfilled at CMCR is General Manager Andrew Kent. Supporting the café operations are Spa Esprit Group and Grover, putting a neat bow on this holistic approach to coffee.
